This evening I sold my car, a 1998 Ford Taurus with a blown head gasket. This is the first car I bought with my own money. The car that taught me basic mechanic skills. The car that followed me along on my adventures. The car that made me hate it like my worst enemy but made me love it like family. I took my first(small) road trip in this car and almost died when I hit a patch of ice and narrowly avoid knocking a Prius and I into an icy river. I experimented with vinyl wrap, metal flake spray paint, rust oleum peel able paint, vht coating and someother products on this car. To some it may be just a terrible 3rd generation Ford Taurus but to me it will always be Moby, my first car. I never thought I would get choked up over this thing but it is literally being put out to pasture tomorrow.

Time to step up perhaps? Maybe even find a V8 SHO which would be the same body style as Moby. Fellow Taurus owner here. Mines older but it’s also my first car with my money.

Its an emotional thing. I always say that I’ll keep my first car forever but when it gets to the point where I can no longer afford it... well I don’t want to think about it.

I'm actually looking at buying a first gen Focus. My mom has one and I love it. I plan on putting the lowering springs on it that I had wanted to put on hers.

The rear wing cameo ft of a V8 SHO. I hear 3rd gen SHO’s are the worst sadly.

That’s the exact situation I am in. I put so much money into this thing but the head gasket bowing was the straw that broke the camel’s back. I wanted to fix it but I did not want to go doesn't that rabbit hole.

They are unfortunately. However, they are actually the fastest at the top end, (a well put together Gen 1 will beat it out of the hole), and they have the biggest cool factor.

One day I may go crazy and buy one, but today I have to act like a proper adult and buy something nice and reliable as well as cheap.

One day. Since they only came with slushers spin the engine around and put a T5 in there. Once the transaxle in my SHO bites it I’m getting a rotten f9x body and doing a drive train swap.

I miss my 2nd and 4th generation Tauruses despite their blandness.

I had a 94, which to me are still the better looking Bulls. Loved it, but didn't miss it after I sold her.

Sadly it is just a lowly sedan. I wanted a manual hatchback but they are not as easy to find as one would think.

I doubt I will miss it once I have a replacement. At one point I couldn't go two weeks without something going wrong.
